MiTeGen Announces Sentinel, Real-time Intensity Monitoring Beamstop System
Ithaca, NY, – July 15, 2016 (on PR.com) MiTeGen LLC, a provider of innovative consumables for protein crystallization and X-ray diffraction to academic, pharmaceutical, industrial and government researchers around the world, announced the launch of their Sentinel™ Real-time Intensity Monitoring Beamstop System for X-ray beamlines.
Protein crystallography plays a key role in our understanding of diseases such as Ebola, Cancer, AIDS, and Tuberculosis. To this end, crystallographers aim to extract precise information from each of their precious samples. Most successful protein crystallography experiments require a multi-year effort that hinges on the use of high-energy focused X-ray beams and extremely sensitive X-ray detectors.
The launch of Sentinel™ Beamstop System gives researchers the capability to precisely monitor the intensity of these X-ray beams during experiments. Moreover, it prevents these beams from damaging detectors that can cost millions of dollars.
Developed in collaboration with, and under an agreement with Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, these new systems allow scientists to access real-time monitoring information about the x-ray dose their samples are exposed to.
