I03 is one of five macromolecular crystallography (MX) beamlines at Diamond. I03 is a tuneable beamline with a working wavelength range of 0.6 – 2.48 Å. The standard working wavelength is 0.976 Å (12.7 keV) with a focused beam size of 90 x 30 um (FWHM). As with all the MX beamlines, I03 uses SPINE standard pins and Unipucks for cryo-cooled samples.

Features include:

  • Containment for Hazard Group 2 and Hazard Group 3 biological agents
  • Apertures (20, 50 or 100 µm) .
  • BART sample changer – 37 Unipucks / 592 samples
  • Eiger2 XE 16M detector – maximum frame rate of 560 Hz
  • Vortex fluorescence detector
  • Automated data processing
  • Possibility to focus at sample position or at detector
  • Remote access1

Beamline Sample Preparation Kits are available in 3 aperture size assortments based on your crystal sizes and include:

  • Assemblies of 100 Crystal Mounts, on 18 mm pins, available in the following assortment:
    • 20 x Dual-Thickness MicroLoops ™ LD  (5 each of 10, 20, 30 and 50 μm aperture sizes)
    • 40 x Dual-Thickness MicroMount ™ (10 each of 75, 100, 150 and 200 μm aperture sizes)
    • 20 x Dual-Thickness MicroLoops ™  (5 each of 300, 400, 500 and 600 μm aperture sizes)
    • 20 x MicroMeshes ™  (5 each of 10, 25, 50 and 25L μm aperture sizes)
  • Installed in 100 B5-R reusable bases or 100 regular bases
  • Packaged and stored in 5 MiTeGen base holders
