Job Summary:

MiTeGen is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Engineering to lead our talented team of engineers. The Director of Engineering will play a pivotal role in planning, prioritizing, and executing a diverse portfolio of projects related to X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, and cryogenic sample preservation and data collection methods. The Director will be responsible for ensuring successful delivery of innovative technologies that meet the evolving needs of our customers.

Responsibilities:

• Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor a growing team of engineers.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative, cross-departmental work environment.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide professional development opportunities.  
• Project Management:
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage engineering projects from concept to commercialization.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Implement, track, and report on key performance indicators for projects.
• Product Development and Innovation:
  • Drive the development of new and improved products and technologies.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, cryopreservation, and related fields.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies and opportunities for innovation.
• Customer Focus:
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to understand customer needs and market trends.
  • Gather and analyze customer feedback to drive product improvements.
  • Ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Technical Expertise:
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team.
  • Contribute to the design and development of complex engineering solutions.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and implement effective solutions.
• Strategic Planning:
  • Contribute to the strategic planning process for the engineering department.
  • Assist in setting long-term goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or a related field. (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
• Proven experience in a leadership role within an engineering or research environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and deliver results.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.  
• Extensive experience in development of complex mechanical, mechatronic, and/or electronic instrumentation.
• Understanding of x-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, or related scientific fields is desirable.
